Welcome!
Welcome to NCISG, a play-by-post roleplay game set up in the world of the CBS television series NCIS. The Naval Criminal Investigative Service is the civilian federal agency dedicated to protecting the personnel, families, and property of the United States Navy and Marine Corps. Their headquarters are located within the Washington Navy Yard in the nation's capital, and the agency is headed by Director Leon Vance. The television show follows Special Agent In Charge Leroy Jethro Gibbs, former Marine and resident grump, and his Red Squad, comprised of Very Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo, Special Agent Timothy McGee, and Probationary Agent ("probie") and former Mossad assassin Ziva David. He has help from the wise and talkative medical examiner Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard and his assistant Jimmy Palmer, as well as forensic scientist Abby Sciuto. Together they form the Major Case Response Team, and protect the service men and women of the D.C. area and occasionally beyond.
Setting!
NCISG is set during a blip in the time-space continuum between seasons 7 and 8. Any information that was revealed in episodes of the current (US) season of NCIS may be used, but please try to be vague about the circumstances of current episodes so that any foreign users don't have their season spoiled! That means any actual plot advancements are sadly off-limits here, unless you specifically mark the thread title with a spoiler warning. Thank you for keeping this place spoiler free for our international guests!
Episodes!
The roleplay here at NCIS will be broken up into Epsiodes much like the television show. You can RP anything you want while the Episode is going on, but unless a crime is To Be Continued across multiple episodes, there will be one crime per episode. We would prefer for each episode to last about a month, no more than two, and will try to keep things moving forward in case specific threads. There will be a break between each episode to allow people to finish up threads from the previous episode, of no more than two weeks. RP-wise we will also say that some time passed between each 'episode' without specifying how much, that way people can RP as much as they like without it looking funny hehe. When old threads are archived they will be split up into Episode boards, for easy locating; for this purpose, any 'between' threads will be located within the previous episode's board.
Currently!
We are currently in Episode One. Petty Officer First Class Kingsley Trueman has been found dead just minutes before he was meant to entertain the President of the United States at a National Defense conference in Washington, D.C. Trueman received a great deal of media attention when he joined the Navy at the start of the War on Terrorism despite already having a successful career as a stand up comedian. He has continued to serve in the Navy entertaining the troops, and many of his televised specials are actually filmed at military camps abroad. NCIS Red and Gold team have been called to the scene - after hours - to investigate. You can find more information here.
